When Does a Variable Helix Help?

Why use different angles?
Regular engagement intervals can reinforce vibration under certain conditions. Varying the timing can help reduce this tendency and support a more stable cut. Results still depend on overhang, clamping, machine condition and the operation.
ALPINE STABIL geometry
The catalogue identifies STABIL with a 39.5°/40.5° variable helix and corner radius. It is a four-flute, TiAlN Nano-coated HRC60-class family with a focus on pre-hardened and tempered steels below HRC50.
System rigidity comes first
A variable helix cannot correct excessive overhang, weak workholding, poor runout or an unstable holder. These mechanical conditions should be checked first.
